Dovetail 469. 4-1/4" x 1-7/16". Made of cream and gold Flint Ridge. Large, well-made, small base dove in G-10 condition. Found in Wayne County, Indiana. COA from Earthworks Artifacts.
Clovis 756. 3-9/16" x 1-1/8". Made of off-white Burlington chert. Well-made with srong fluting on both sides; about 1/2 way up. G-9/10 condition. Possibly a Debert-type Clovis. Found by T.L. Bush in Parnell, Iowa County, Iowa. Was sent to Perino by two of the former owners. (5) COA's from Earthworks, Perino (x2), Putty, Stermer.
Cumberland 715. 2-11/16” x 7/8”. Brown & gray striped Tyrone chert. Strong flutes on both sides. Great condition. Found in Oldham County, Kentucky. Perino calls the material Hornstone. (4) COA’s from Earthworks, Perino, Partain, and Stermer.
Dovetail 436. 5-1/2” x 1-3/8”. Made of tan colored, high-grade Burlington or Payson chert. Nicely made big dove with great beveled edges. Great G-9/10 condition. Found in Missouri. (3) COA's from Earthworks, Partain, Ben Stermer.
Cody Complex/Scottsbluff 913. 3-3/8” x 1-1/8”. Made of beautiful blue Sonora chert. Nice flaking and great condition. Found in Hardin County Kentucky. (2) COA’s from Ken Partain (as Eastern stemmed/Cody Complex), Ben Stermer (as Scottsbluff).
Stringtown (Paleo) 278. 3-1/4” x 7/8”. Made of Black Coshocton. Well-made and in perfect G-10 condition. Found in Stark County, Ohio. (3) COA’s from Earthworks, Ben Stermer, Jackson.
Clovis 722. 3-1/4” x 1-5/16”. Made of Tyrone chert in shades of gray and tan. Fluted on both sides. Great condition with a few minor dings. Found in Stewart County, Tennessee. (3) COA’s from Jackson, Davis, Stermer.
Simpson 390. 4-1/4” x 1-1/8”. Made of black chert. This was probably a much larger “bull-tongue” type Simpson point that has been re-sharpened down. Thick and stoutly made with a small ear ding. A large and very rare Paleo point type. Found in the south Georgia/Florida area. (3) COA’s from Earthworks, Stermer, Rogers.
Clovis 727. 4” x 1-5/16”. Made of tan/cream/light gray swirled chert. Good sized, well made and in G-8 condition. Fluted about 1/3 up on both sides. Found in Ohio. Ex-Shewey. (3) COA's from Earthworks, Jackson, Stermer.
Scottsbluff 1186. 4-7/16”. Large, fine Scottsbluff point made of semi-translucent Cream/Off-white Crescent Quarry chert. Well-made with great flaking. G-9/10 condition. Found in Moniteau County, Missouri. (3) COA's from Berner, Ben Stermer, and Calvin Howard.
Scottsbluff 1187. 2-13/16” x 1-1/4”. Nice G-10 Scotty made of glossy off-white Burlington chert with tan, orange, and brown streaks. Heavily ground base, nice flaking. Found in McDonald County, Missouri. (3) COA's from Earthworks, Partain, Stermer.
Allen 330. 3-1/2” x 1-3/16”. Made of gray/brown Tongue River chert. Classic High-Plains Allen with diagonal flaking. Probably in “as-made”, un-resharpened condition; wide, with thin edges. Rare to find in this size and condition. The white spots on one side are mineral concretions. Found in eastern North Dakota. (4) COA’s from Rogers, Davis, Meadows, and Motley.
Square Knife 520 (Paleo). 10-1/4” x 2”. Humongous! Made of white high-grade Burlington chert. Complete and unbroken. No modern dings or damage. Exhibits fine edgework along most of the edges and around the ends; a portion of one edge is rough percussion flaked alone. This piece was unearthed during a roadway ditch construction in Johnson County, Missouri. I know of only one larger Square Knife and it is broken into several pieces; this may actually be the largest whole, unbroken Square Knife in existence! Plainview 682. 4” x 1-1/16”. Made of sparkling Ouachita Quartzite. Nice flaking and in great condition. This was a very large point before being resharpened. Found by Nikki Woodward in the early 1970’s at McKee Cove, Lake Eufaula, McIntosh County, Oklahoma. (3) COA's from Earthworks, Perino, Stermer.
Cody Complex 916 (Paleo). 3”. Long-stemmed with a nice median ridge on both sides. Made of two-toned, jewell, partially-translucent smoky obsidian. Burinated tip. Early piece with Eden and Alberta attributes. Found in Humboldt County, Nevada at Humboldt Sinks by Carl and Chris Thiessen in the 1940’s or 50’s. Ben Stermer COA.
